Keri Bean
SSI team assistant
Keri is currently a junior meteorology major at Texas A&M University, specializing in planetary atmospheres. She is double minoring in mathematics and Earth sciences. She has done some research with the Spirit rover and is now currently working on Phoenix.

Her interest in meteorology has been strong since preschool when a severe storm passing through triggered a strong desire to understand weather. Her interest switched from severe weather to space in July 2005 when she was only a few miles away from the launch of STS-114 in Florida. The following two summers she attended space camp in Huntsville, Alabama. Mars caught her attention when a friend bought her the novel \\\"Roving Mars\\\" for her birthday.

She is actively involved in several organizations on campus. She is the social chair for the Texas A&M Student Chapter of the American Meteorological Society, the forecasting coordinator for the Texas Aggie Storm Chasers, a member of the SpaceVision 2008 conference planning committee, and a member of the Texas A&M Students for the Exploration and Development of Space. She is also a member of the national American Meteorological Society, the National Space Society, the Planetary Society, the Mars Society, and the National Scholars Honor Society.

In her free time she loves snorkeling, boogie boarding, reading, photography, ice skating, bowling, storm chasing, and amateur astronomy.
