MARSFEST (Martian Arctic Research Science Field Experience for Secondary Teachers) ambassadors are a select group of teachers from the US and Canada that trained alongside mission personnel during the summer of 2006 in Fairbanks, Alaska to study permafrost, past Mars missions, and the Phoenix mission. As Phoenix mission ambassadors they bring current mission information into classrooms, teacher professional development settings, public events, and informal education venues. The Phoenix Mission is led by Principal Investigator Peter H. Smith of The University of Arizona, supported by a science team of CO-Is, with project management at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and development partnership with Lockheed Martin Space Systems. International contributions are provided by the Canadian Space Agency; the University of Neuchatel, Switzerland; the universities of Copenhagen and Aarhus Denmark; the Max Planck Institute, Germany; and the Finnish Meteorological Institute.
