What was your first job?
He was an undergrad assistant at UC Berkeley in the spectroscopy lab.

What got you interested in science?
His father was a medical researcher and a scientist, the discussions his father had with his colleagues fascinated Peter. Peter loved science fiction. He was good at science in school, which was a positive reinforcement.

Who has been a mentor for you and how was that helpful?
His professor at Berkeley was a mentor, he worked in spectroscopy. He helped him understand how wavelengths could be broken up, and how all the machines work.

If you weren't a scientist, what would you be?
He would be a professional golfer.
