In 1982, Aaron Zent graduated from Washington University, St. Louis with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Earth and Planetary Science. He continued his education at the University of Hawaii, receiving his Master of Science and PhD in Geology and Geophysics in 1985 and 1988, respectively.
Aaron Zent participated as a science team member for the Mars Polar Lander working with the Thermal and Evolved Gas Analyzer team. He has also worked as a member of the Microscopic Science Team for the New Millennium, Deep Space 2 mission. For Phoenix, Zent will investigate the geochemistry and climatology associated with the MECA
